RFID Anywhere has an architecture that is inherently flexible and scalable. This flexibility is not just limited to RFID hardware or enterprise applications, but also applies to RFID standards and protocols. This unmatched feature is made possible due to RFID Anywhere¡¯s unique layered approach. The underlying architecture performs basic functions like capturing data from hardware, and other components such as support for protocols and standards need to be added on top of it. This means that the system integrators get the freedom to choose the type of standard to use (EPC, ISO, and custom and future standards) and the type of protocol to use (ALE, future protocols).
RFID Anywhere is embeddable technology that can implement the functionality of a smart reader. This means that a company can achieve huge savings by purchasing a "dumb" reader and via RFID Anywhere, implement on it all of the features found on an expensive "smart" reader. With the ability to process data at the edge of an RFID network, only valuable information processed from raw RFID data needs to be sent to enterprise systems.
Different RFID hardware - for example readers - come with different, model specific features. Other RFID offerings take a lowest common denominator approach to handling hardware features by supporting only the common features found on all RFID readers and not providing any method to take advantage of manufacturer or model specific features. RFID Anywhere lets companies take full advantage of all their RFID hardware through custom connectors. This lets enterprises get the most from their RFID devices.
RFID Anywhere offers a web based management console that is designed to be a set-and-forget application. Once the RFID network is running, unless there is a need to upgrade or change any of the existing configurations, the management console rarely needs to be used.
RFID Anywhere also supports CIM and SNMP, allowing management information to be fed to enterprise management consoles such as Tivoli and Open View. |
